The reason most names were chosen is fairly obvious.
The exception is the Power position, and the reason I chose this name might surprise you.
There are two reasons why I
chose to create new names for
the common sexual positions:
Firstly, it makes it possible to refer to a position without having to
describe the position. While some positions have common names
which are very well known (eg missionary), others would need a
description every time I mentioned them (eg Joy Cuddle, Joy Rest).
Secondly, the positions with common names use words which do not work
well within Devotional Sex (ie missionary, doggy). As I am using new
words for common sexual activities, it felt appropriate to also create
new words for the common positions.
Why each word was chosen
Joy Power for Joy in
the `missionary´ position.
(The Princess
lying on her back and
the Knight on top of and facing her.)
Power was chosen because it has a very Devotional Sex twist as to who has
the power.
Most people would probably think that in this position it is the male
who is dominant in this position. He has the power to control how
fast
and deep his Desire enters her Pleasure. With normal sex this is a
position of male power.
The first twist of the power dynamic with Devotional Sex is that the
Princess can (only if she wants, but also whenever she wants) tell her
Knight how he should move. If, for example, she tells him to do slow
and long strokes, then her Knight has lost his power to control the
sexual dance. When the Princess directs her Knight how to move, both
become aware that the Joy is about pleasing the Princess, and it is the
Princess who has the power.
With Devotional Sex a Knight must always be careful not to Climax
during Joy (unless his Princess wants him to). Male Climax is very easy
to achieve in the Power position, and so in this position a
Knight must take particular care to control his actions whenever he
feels close to loosing control. Even
when a Princess has not given her Knight any directions, he is still
very aware of his Princess's power to control his Climax.
One way of making it easier for the Knight not to Climax during Joy is
to make a rule that he never Climaxes in certain positions. This trains
him, and his Desire, not to Climax in these `forbidden´
positions. Over time the Knight will find that in these `forbidden´
positions it becomes easier and easier to not feel close to Climax.
I recommend that a Knight should learn to never Climax in the Cuddle,
Ride, Rest or Deep positions. (This is only a recommendation - Devotee
couples are free to discover what works best for them.) This leaves the
Power position as the only recommended position for a Knight to enjoy a
Climax during Joy.
In Devotional Sex the high erotic energy of the Knight is balanced by
the Princess having power to control the Devotees sexual and sensual
activities. This power is maintained by her controlling when her Knight
can Climax. One time when a Princess really feels her power is when she
says to her Knight "Cum now".
Especially if the only position in which the Knight will be allowed to Climax during Joy
is the Power position, then the use of the word power to describe this
position in Devotional Sex has nothing to do with male power - the
position has this name because it represents Princess power!

Joy Cuddle for Joy in the `spoon´ position.
(The
Princess on her side, facing away from
her Knight, and with the
Knight on his side facing
her, and entering her
from behind.)
This position is the least active position for Joy, and it is also the
most cuddly.
Near the end of sexual activity a Devotee couple may often use this
position as a nice way to cuddle while still enjoying Joy. If the
Princess tells her Knight to "be still", his erection will eventually
go down while still inside her. So the Joy Cuddle slowly becomes just a
cuddle.
Hence cuddle is a very good word to describe this position.
Joy Ride for Joy with the
Knight lying on his back and the Princess sitting on top of him.
In this position the Princess is riding her Knight, so the word ride is
a good description of the position.
Joy Rest for Joy with the Knight lying on his back, and
the Princess facing him and lying (resting) on top of him.
This position is usually
enjoyed when
the Princess who is Riding her Knight lies down for a rest, hence the
choice of the word rest.
Of course this position is not always just restful, and it can be very
stimulating if both or either Devotees move their hips.
Joy Deep for Joy in the
`doggy´ position.
(The Princess on her
hands and knees, and the Knight
entering her from
behind.)
The
word doggy is very descriptive, but it does not feel, to me, an
appropriate word to use within Devotional Sex.
The
ancient Roman name
for this position was `the lioness´. This is more noble than
doggy,
but
this even more than the word doggy conjures up a picture of male
aggression (if you watch lions mate, the male is often very aggressive,
and sometimes even bites the lioness's neck).
As this position enables deeper entry than most other positions, I
decided to use the word deep to describe the position.
Joy Sit for Joy with the Knight sitting
up, and with the Princess facing him and sitting on top of him.
This name is just descriptive of the position.
