The public symbol of being a Devotee
The public symbol of being a Devotee is a gold ring with a red garnet stone which is worn on the little finger of the left hand.
Wearing a Devotee Ring is a symbol to both yourself and your partner of your commitment to
be their Princess or Knight, and a reminder of the joys of practicing Devotional Sex with them.
You can also wear a Devotee Ring if you are Devotional Dating, you have a Devotional Friend, or if you are single and have made a personal commitment to follow
the principles of Devotional Sex the next time you are intimate with someone.
Of course this public symbol is optional - not everyone wants
to let others who recognize what the ring means know that they are
a Devotee. And a couple can choose that just the Princess, or just the Knight, wears a Devotee Ring.

There is also an intimate private symbol of a man being a Devotional Knight, and this is presented in Chapter 11 here. Starting to wear a Devotee Ring
The best time to start wearing a Devotee Ring is when making a commitment to practice Devotional Sex.
When
an established couple first explore Devotional Sex, each commitment to
practice Devotional Sex will be for just one night, one season, or for maybe a week.
A
Devotee Ring can be worn during this exploration. Putting the ring on
can symbolize the start of the exploration and the wearers commitment
to be a Princess or a Knight for the period of the exploration.
Of course the ring should be taken off when the exploration ends.
The
most special time for an established couple to start wearing a Devotee
Ring is when they both make the commitment to live Devotional Sex for a
significant period of time. Initially this might be to live
Devotional Sex for a month. More experienced couples may want to commit
for a whole year.
Couples
may find it meaningful to have a ceremony when they make such a significant
commitment to each other, and putting the rings on can form a key part of this ceremony.
Making such a long-term commitment is further discussed in the section in Chapter 9 on committing within a relationship.
When
Devotional Sex is practiced as part of dating, there are several points
of commitment. Starting to wear a Devotee Ring can be used to represent
any of these commitments.
A single person can commit to
themselves to practice Devotional Sex in the future, and they can
choose to start wearing a Devotee Ring when they make this commitment.
More is said about making the above commitments in the section in Chapter 9 on making the commitment.
What wearing a Devotee Ring represents
When
with a partner, wearing a Devotee ring represents your commitment to
practice Devotional Sex with them. It thus represents all the joys as
well as the responsibilities.
- For a Knight this includes his commitment to obey his Princess and to only ejaculate when she allows. (More)
- For a Princess it represents her Princess Power and her responsibility to ensure her Knight enjoys his role. (More)
When
single, wearing a Devotee Ring represents your commitment to yourself
to practice Devotional Sex next time you are intimate with someone.
- For a Knight this involves introducing your date or friend to Devotional Sex, and giving her Princess Power over you. (More)
- A
single Princess may not immediately tell her next partner about
Devotional Sex, but she will use her power to say "no" and her freedom
to suggest activities to enjoy a Devotional experience. (More)
Meeting someone who is wearing a Devotee Ring
If you meet someone wearing a Devotee Ring:
- it might be just
a coincidence that they are wearing the right
type of ring on the correct finger. It is possible that the ring wearer
has never heard of Devotional Sex!
- even if they are a
Devotee they may not want to talk about it or even just make small
talk with you.
So please
respect the other person's right to privacy.
Perhaps the best solution if you meet someone wearing what might be a Devotee Ring,
and you wish to talk with them, is to first mention that you are wearing a similar
ring. And if
you are not wearing a similar ring you could say something that
mentioned the words `Princess´ or `Knight´, and then see where the
conversation goes.
A bigger ring on a different finger
It
may be difficult to find a ring which fits the little finger.
Especially for women, most rings in the shops may be too big. Many
jewelers will resize a ring. But, especially when you are just starting
Devotional Sex, you may prefer to avoid this extra expense.
If you can't find a suitable ring which is small enough to fit your
little finger, you can instead wear a bigger ring on the finger which
is next to your thumb.
